Responsibilities:
Answers calls for the laboratory and responds to both internal and client requests for reports and supplies.
Comply with lab standard operating procedures & safety procedures Interact with other operating departments to expedite flow of work and information Advise management of operational problems impacting workflow & recommend solution Performs various lab duties as assigned by Histology Laboratory Supervisor Evaluates the quality of incoming specimens.
Rejects specimens according to written guidelines and performs notification according to written procedure.
Follows specimen collection and handling policies and procedures with attention to age-specific needs of the patient.
Responsible for pathology specimens, assuring maintenance of supplies and coordination of transport.
Responsible for send out procedures, including monitoring result receipt.
Processes specimens for testing and/or send-out.
Measures volumes, adds chemicals, and prepares for transport according to state and federal guidelines.
Assist Technologists with storage of completed work Resolve sample problems with customer service and lab departments Transcribes miscellaneous reports and letters.
Coordinates courier services with clients FedEx/UPS .
Forwards reports, letters, slides, blocks and supplies to clients.
Keeps records of materials received and sent to client offices.
Enters and updates patient demographic information in the laboratory information system.
Troubleshoots and resolves problems with software and print server.
Scans laboratory requisitions into patient charts.
Creates, maintains, copies and files patient records and other information as needed.
Files blocks, slides, and laboratory requisitions, as needed.
Emptying wet tissue waste containers, as needed.
Keep work area neat & clean Treats staff, physicians, visitors and patients with dignity and respect.
Maintains strict confidentiality.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience Requirements:
High school graduate or GED One year medical experience in a physician's office or equivalent combination of training and experience preferred; will train a highly-motivated new graduate.
