The job description of a lumber material handler may include the following
Responsibilities:
Material Handling:
Receive, inspect, and sort incoming lumber shipments, ensuring accuracy and quality.
Move lumber using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other equipment, following safety protocols and guidelines.
Inventory Management:
Maintain accurate inventory records of lumber and related materials, including tracking quantities, locations, and types of lumber.
Assist in conducting regular inventory audits and cycle counts.
Order Fulfillment:
Retrieve requested lumber items from inventory and assemble orders for delivery or pickup.
Prepare lumber bundles or packages, ensuring proper labeling and documentation.
Equipment Operation:
Operate and maintain various material handling equipment, such as forklifts, band saws, and stackers.
Perform routine maintenance checks, report any malfunctions or damages, and follow safety procedures.
Quality Control:
Inspect lumber for defects, damage, or non-compliance with quality standards.
Separate and discard damaged or substandard materials, ensuring only high-quality lumber is processed or shipped.
Safety Compliance:
