Job Description:
The Marine Electrician will be responsible for performing all duties required to layout, fabricate, and install electrical wiring or coaxial cable.
Essential Functions:
Checks, tests, and troubleshoots electrical systems for conformance to specifications and performs repair, removal, and re-installation of wiring as necessary.
Cuts wires to length, strips insulation from wire ends, and insulates connections with plastic sleeves.
Attach wire or complicated electrical systems to fixtures and accessories such as transformers, instrument panels, and switchboards with fasteners such as bolts, screws, or solder.
May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
Must possess skills and abilities to perform the requirements of a ship board or airframe electrician's trade with little supervision or guidance.
Expected to know how to read and interpret drawings, specifications, technical manuals, design notices, etc.
Must know and understand the use of all tools of their trade such as multi-meters, pin crimpers, soldering and expected to accomplish the non-complex tasks associated with electrical installations of cable, military circular connectors, panel box and power terminations, etc.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Clearance.
Qualifications:
Requires a HS Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of eight (8) years of electrical experience installing cables through shipboard cableways, performing terminations on military and commercial crimp and soldering type connectors/connections.
A combination of education and experience will be considered.
Must be able to provide own hand tools specific to the trade.
Must be a US Citizen Preferred Skills:
Successful completion of Military class 'A' school for basic electrical theory.
