Experience:
Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-13, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes using knowledge of concepts, principles, procedures, regulations, laws, and instructions applicable to Fire Protection Engineering; Providing technical and functional assistance to the supervisor in regards to making decisions pertaining to Fire Protection Engineering; Possessing the technical competencies to perform functional position requirements in Fire Protection Engineering; prepares and/or executes programs, policies, procedures and activities in Fire Protection Engineering. Note:
Due to the use of 120 day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS:
Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in- grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-13 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-14 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Professional knowledge of FPE concepts, principles, criteria, standards, methods, practices, and techniques, materials, equipment and practices and familiarity with Mechanical, Electrical and other engineering disciplines and construction practices and extensive knowledge of public law, regulations, policies, practices, procedures, engineering and construction covering the design, construction, maintenance and operations of FPE. Knowledge of FPE, safety, standard contracting regulations and practices requirements as outlined in applicable standards and regulations to ensure all FPE requirements are met. Knowledge of automated data processing concepts, systems capabilities, and economic usage to effectively accomplish assigned functions. Skill in written and oral communications to disseminate guidance, letters, bulletins, etc., conduct briefings, and present issues and recommendations and maintain good working relations with co-workers and to gain support for program goals. Skill in analyzing and interpreting a wide variety of issues and data and ability to plan, develop budgets, manage programs and formulate guidance or procedural solutions.6. Ability to physically access facilities such as infrastructure & facility systems, dams, underneath bridges, foundations, and the general topography at construction sites. PART-TIME OR UNPAID
